Behind every intricate detail, Gus brings to life a story, blending his art with playful and heartfelt moments that resonate deeply with his audience.

Artwork

From sketch to final artwork, Gus illustrations are created entirely on an iPad. Every character in his busy scenes has a distinct personality: whether chasing bubbles or laughing at a playful moment, it’s their interaction with the environment that brings the drawing to life.

Gus loves digging into stories, facts, and tiny details — they’re all part of an intense investigation process that gives the structure to his funny drawings. Research is part of the fun, and it keeps each illustration lively, curious and full of surprises.

Color is one of Gus’ greatest strengths and plays an essential role in how each illustration conveys mood, clarity, and energy. Some recent works, like the Spot the Brand campaign for Frontify, received major recognition, including a GOLD Award in Illustration at The Drum Awards 2024.

About Gus Morais

Gus Morais is an award-winning Brazilian illustrator with over 15 years of experience crafting detailed, crowded scenes filled with humor and hidden Easter eggs.

Since 2017, he has illustrated The Washington Post’s traditional Christmas search-and-find covers and created playful, complex artwork for major clients like AT&T and Warner Bros. Games, including posters for Star Wars, DC, Lego, and the Wizarding World.

In 2023, Gus moved to Madrid, Spain, where he now enjoys exploring the city with his family—especially on weekends, when they search for the real-life Easter eggs hidden throughout the city’s streets, parks, and corners.

“Gus Morais has been creating search-and-find illustrations for many years.  In 2023, Warner Bros Games commissioned him to create a search-and-find poster for Hogwarts Legacy, filled with characters, settings and storylines from the Harry Potter universe. It helped the company sell 24 million copies worldwide.”
